Dear potential applicant,
Thank you for taking the time to read my vision for Athens 2025’ - 49th National Selection Conference of EYP Greece. If you resonate with what you are about to read, I can’t wait to see your application! I am looking for 3 highly motivated and open minded individuals who are willing to develop and grow through the process of leadership. To be specific, the Academic Board will base its work on three key pillars: a vision-based approach, academic curiosity and collaboration.
A Vision-based Approach
During Athens 2025, I aspire to foster an environment where Vice Presidents can actually take ownership over the processes and output of the team. I aim for this session to be a flourishing opportunity for you to put your personal experiences, ideas and goals into practice and actually have the freedom to implement your own personal vision for the Academic Team and pursue your unique leadership style. To achieve that, Board Members will be invited to lead and shape specific elements of both pre-session and in session work as well as experiment with personal projects. Especially during pre-session preparation, a lot of emphasis will be put on reevaluating current EYP structures and methods and tailor them to our personal development goals and interests.
Academic Curiosity
The theme of the session, “Redefining Possibilities: Igniting New Horizons by Harnessing Technology and Sustainable Practices; Shaping a Resilient & Innovative Europe”, provokes us to ponder the decision-making crossroad Europe is facing right now due to rapid sociopolitical, technological and environmental changes. That, combined with Europe’s far right parties’ rise, makes it imperative for the youth to take initiative and become the drive of societal progress and civic engagement. With this in mind, I envision the academic output to represent the forefront of political developments in the EU. My aim is for the academic team to step out of its comfort zone and deal with pressing and challenging topics that can spark fruitful dialogue, concerns and reflection. In order to achieve that, the Board will be called to question the way academics are usually performed in EYP and shape an output that can be efficient for all types of learning and will serve our common vision to redefine possibilities.
Inter-team collaboration
Despite academic curiosity, cultivating team bonding is of equal significance throughout the entire process. My goal is for the Board to facilitate genuine connections within the academic team via implementing interactive activities or projects. Whether that would mean creating sister committees or developing a peer reviewed TO writing process, establishing a sense of unity and interconnectedness is vital for the Academic Team of Athens 25’. Bringing these ideas to life will require careful planning and coordination from the Board, thus a lot of effort will be put in shaping a collective vision of how we want to see our team to evolve through this session.
If you made it till here, I thank you once again for taking the time to read my vision. Please feel free to reach out to this email: elenachrysafi@gmail.com if you have any questions or concerns!
Hope to see you soon in Athens!
Elena
